The Old Neighbour and the New: A Hardy/Barnes Walk.

Thursday 19th July, 2.00pm

Tony Fincham will be joined by Thomas Hardy and William Barnes experts Alistair Chisholm and Brian Caddy for a 2.5 mile walk in Hardy's footsteps across the fields to Winterbourne Came Church, where Barnes was rector and where he is buried, returning via Barnes's Rectory to visit Max Gate. These houses and the walk over the wooded Came Down resonate in the poetry of both Barnes and Hardy.

Tickets are 5 for non-THS-conference delegates, with an extra admission charge to Max Gate for non National Trust members . To book a place or for more information please contact Mike Nixon, THS Secretary, on 01305 251501, or email: info@hardysociety.org
