Saturday 6th June
Tony Fincham will lead a Junetide Walk through the heart of Hardy's landscape. Meet at Thorncombe Wood Car Park (NGR SY725921) to ramble across Piddleton Heath to 'A Eweleaze near Weatherbury', returning via Yalbury Wood and Yell'ham Bottom.
Lunch available at the Visitor Centre.
Distance: six and a half miles
3.30 pm: The Birthday Lecture, at the Dorford Centre, Bridport Road
'Moments of Vision': Thomas Hardy and Virginia Woolf
to be given by Dr. Marion Dell, co-author ofRemembering St. Ives: Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell and author of Virginia Woolf's Influential Forebears, which will be published in the autumn.
ticket prices: members £5; non-members £6
4.45pm: Tea at the Dorford Centre, followed by a short performance, by the New Hardy Players, of a scene from Return of the Native.
5.30pm: Hardy's Statue
A selection of Hardy readings followed by a wreath-laying ceremony led by the Mayor of Dorchester and the Lecturer; thence to St. Peter's Church where a wreath will be placed on Barnes' statue.
6.30pm: A Birthday Party to celebrate Hardy's 175th Birthday, at Max Gate
Music, poetry, a celebration buffet meal and then, the stars of the evening - Furse Swann, Tim Laycock and Colin Thompson - will entertain you.

10.am at St. Michael's Church, Stinsford
Morning Service, followed by wreath-laying at Hardy's grave.
