We already have Hardy’s homes, let’s support The Big Blake Project!
The Blake’s Cottage Fund, led by The Blake Society, aims to raise funds to buy William Blake’s cottage in Felpham and keep it in Trust for the nation. The cottage, which until now has been a private residence, was William Blake’s only home outside of London between 1800-1803, where he composed Jerusalem, as well as much of his epic poem Milton.
Invited by The Big Blake Project, a William Blake collective based in Felpham, the literary community has come together for two special events celebrating William Blake’s life, work & influence - reading & discussing his work, as well as performing new work inspired by him. The first event, will take place in William Blake’s former parish church in Felpham, under the gaze of the beautiful William Blake memorial window.
As well as taking part in the events several poets including George Szirtes, Daljit Nagra, Richard Skinner, Martin Malone and Ian Duhig have contributed new poems inspired by William Blake’s work, to an exclusive poetry pamphlet called The Ecchoing Green, which will also be on sale at these events.
All proceeds from the events and pamphlets will go to the Blake’s Cottage Fund.
London details are tba – but here are details & the link for the Felpham event & sending huge and many thanks in advance for any mentions / tweets / shares you may be able to offer. Flyer also attached.
