2.15pm - Andrew Norman: ‘Thomas Hardy: the Man behind the Mask’

3.15pm - Tony Fincham: ‘Emma Lavinia: in sickness and in health’.

4.15 pm - Open Seminar with all 4 speakers

7pm - A buffet supper of Emma’s dishes – provided by The History Girls. Our guest is Ann Stone, an artist who met Thomas Hardy

8.30 pm - Informal Poetry Reading - orchestrated by Jacqueline Dillion

Max Gate – Sunday 25th November 2012

10am - A walk in Hardy’s footsteps to Winterborne Came led by Tony Fincham

11.30am - Contemporary Poems about Emma: Chalk Stream Writers

12.30pm - Lunch at ‘The Trumpet Major’

2pm - Recital of songs by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Barbara Rawling, and the first performance of ‘Golden Days’, a cycle of three songs by Emma Hardy, by Barry Ferguson, performed by Abbi Temple, soprano and Barry Ferguson, piano.

2.45 pm - Poems of 1912-13 Veteris vestigia

This event is being held at Max Gate by kind permission of the National Trust; due to space restrictions, numbers are strictly limited. Tickets must be purchased in advance:
£25 for members of the Thomas Hardy Society and £30 for non-members (price to include buffet supper on the Saturday).


St Michael’s Church, Stinsford – Tuesday 27th November 2012

10.30 – a Service of Commemoration for the life of Emma Lavinia Hardy; with readings of the Poems of 1912-13 & the laying of a wreath on Emma’s grave.
